About Chippewa Hills Orchestra
1. The Chippewa Hills Orchestral Society was founded in the Fall of 2012 by three orchestra alumni, three former Chippewa Hills educators, and two community supporters who were compelled to save a 52-year old orchestra program. The program was to be cut due to the existing director leaving Chippewa Hills and the school budget crisis.

Now in the Fall of 2016, we continue to raise funds and awareness to hopefully have Orchestra back into the curriculum as a school-funded class. We are a 501c3 Non Profit Organization. Our current Board of Directors is made up of former CHHS students, staff and residents, who understand how important music is to leading a productive adult life.

2. One goal of our Society is to work with Chippewa Hills’ administrators and members of the Chippewa Hills Board of Education so that budget monies can be found within the school general budget as the state funding climate improves to reinstate a full-time orchestra director.

3. Currently, the Orchestral Society provides the majority of funding for Ms. Buehner’s part-time salary.

4. Funds are raised through the writing of grants, donations from businesses, individuals, and other non-profits. Thus far, we have raised approx. $100,000 to fund the salary of our current and recent orchestra directors.

PARENTS: The orchestral education your child currently receives takes place only because of the efforts of the Orchestral Society. We would really appreciate parent participation in our fundraising activities and/or promoting budget reinstatement of orchestra through attendance at school board meetings.

If you’re willing to become active in our society’s efforts, please call or e-mail me, and I would be glad to invite you to attend one of our board meetings or invite you to help with our fundraising and advocacy efforts. We can only continue our efforts if we have strong parent support of our initiatives. Lack of parent support jeopardizes the future of orchestra education at Chippewa Hills.

Our next big fundraiser is coming up soon. Wheatland Music Festival is a major fundraising project for our organization. Sept 9-10-11 We need volunteers prior to the festival as well as during it.
