The Chippewa Hills Orchestral Society is a non-profit organization for the purpose of raising charitable contributions to help fund and re-instate the Chippewa Hills Orchestra into the curriculum of grades 5-12 of the Chippewa Hills Public Schools.
The CHOS was formed by a group of citizen advocates to help raise funds for the re-instatement of the Chippewa Hills Orchestra program for grades 5-12. The State of Michigan led the Chippewa Hills Board of Education to discontinue the 5th-12th grade orchestra program in June of 2012.
Orchestra alumnus Ryan Gilbert received approval from the Board of Education in August 2012 to pursue development of a non-profit organization, the CHOS. The CHOS would seek funding via donations and grant writing. CHOS achieved non-profit status in January 2013.
The CHOS raised an initial $18,000+ in donations through participation in the Mecosta County Foundation “Match Day” event in November 2012.
Orchestra students, alumni, and directors raised over $1,200 via performances at local venues during November & December. The CHOS continues its outreach with the “Stringed Business” initiative, the Benefit Concert and Silent Auction on February 19th and our soon to be launched “Pay It Forward” campaign.
Your contribution can make a difference too!
